Nights out in Glasgow
Concert Venues
With internationally renowned performers playing
every week, Glasgow offers entertainment unrivalled by many
of Europe's cosmopolitan cities. A vibrant city of excitement
and entertainment, Glasgow boasts a selection of venues that
regularly welcome performers of all genres of entertainment.
|
 |
Among Glasgow's notable venues is the Royal Concert Hall, which hosts
many of the country's most established performers and internationally
acclaimed guests such as the St Petersburg Philharmonic and Moscow
State Orchestra. Of similar taste, the Theatre Royal, home to the Scottish Opera and
Scottish Ballet companies, is undoubtedly one of the city's most prevalent
venues.
Main stream acts popular with younger generations often choose
the south side's state-of-the-art Carling Academy boasting a capacity
of 2,500. It has hosted the largest names in contemporary Rock,
R n' B, Rap and Hip Hop music.
The Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) is the largest
of its kind in the UK and one of only four integrated conference
centres in Europe capable of accommodating over 3,000 visitors.
It has hosted most of the world's top performers, accommodating
audiences of up to 10,000 people.
Despite a modest capacity of 1,900 (standing), Glasgow Barrowlands
boasts a world famous atmosphere that creates a real connection
between the performer and audience. So much so, that many choose
it over some of the city's larger venues. Legends to have played
the famous old ballroom include Def Leppard, U2, Eminem, Bob Dylan,
REM, the Rolling Stones, INXS and many, many more.
