Nights out in Glasgow
Òran Mór
A beautifully restored 19th-century church in
the city's West End provides a fitting home to Òran Mór,
a multi-arts venue hosting a wide range of entertainment and
performing arts. Established in 2004, Òran Mór,
which translates as 'Great Song' or 'Melody' in Scots Gaelic,
offers a varied programme from Club & DJ Nights to theatre
and the visual arts.
It presents a new concept for theatre-goers with its superb
lunch time theatre programme 'A Play, a Pie and a Pint'. Now
in its third season, the series enjoys performances from award-winning
actors like Dave Anderson and Robbie Coltrane. Òran Mór
also plays an important part in the West End Festival every
June. |

The auditorium is a fabulous venue for private functions, accommodating
up to 450 people theatre-style or 250 for formal occasions. In addition
to weddings and Burns Suppers, Òran Mór has hosted
product launches, awards' dinners, fashion shows and conferences
The fully licenced Venue Nightclub provides a mix of music from
DJ's to live bands and boasts superb acoustics. Two bars also form
part of the Òran Mór experience, namely the Whisky
and Victorian Bars, both serving bar meals. The Whisky Bar hosts
monthly customer sampling nights, details of which are available
on the Òran Mór website listed below.
Dining out is also a pleasure, the relaxed atmosphere of the Conservatory
offers the ideal environment in which to enjoy some fine Scottish
cuisine. In contrast, an exclusive and varied menu is available
in the more formal Brasserie.
A memorable experience is guaranteed whatever your reason for visiting
Òran Mór, undoubtedly one of Glasgow's leading theatres
and mutli-arts centres.
